Cambridge Rugby 2011 Offseason (Part 1)

At the end of last season, we were contacted by Bob Crooks, Director of Rugby at Cambridge RUFC to discuss setting up a “1st XV Player Development Group” – a multi-layered structure designed to support the rugby coaching with an LTAD strength & conditioning “academy”.

The ‘PDG’ is made up of several groups – some have the potential to be imminent 1st XV players, others are from the 2nd team, some are last year’s colts, and there are some players for whom this is their first experience of senior rugby.

Our role in providing the academy structure is to underpin the club coaches’ technical development with the movement patterns, strength and resilience required to play rugby at the highest level.

Over the course of several seasons, the intention is that players will “graduate” through the levels of the academy, from colts to regular 1st XV games – at each stage developing the required levels of physicality and technical competency.

We’ll shoot another video during pre-season!
