Parkside Federation Gifted & Talented Session

Last week, we were very kindly invited by the Parkside Federation (a group of Cambridge schools) to deliver a strength & conditioning seminar for their ‘gifted and talented’ students…

The event was held at the Fenners indoor cricket school in central Cambridge, and saw gifted and talented children from the 3 Federation schools come together to learn multi-sports techniques – followed by a lecture on Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) for the student’s parents.

During the session, the students were split into four groups and moved around different ‘stations’, learning about core stability, agility/ acceleration/ deceleration mechanics, jumping/landing techniques and fundamental movement patterns.

After the session, the children headed back to the school where they were met by their parents, who saw a video of the afternoon’s event and received a lecture by our Performance Director on LTAD. This talk provided an overview of the stages youngsters go through as they develop, how it fits in with their sport and what they should expect as parents.

It was a fantastic session, and it was great to work with such enthusiastic and engaged students and teachers. We look forward to working with the school(s) in the future!
