Each week, we answer Sports Medicine and Strength & Conditioning questions that are tweeted and/or e-mailed to us.

This week, we were e-mailed the question: “How can you retain speed qualities whilst recovering from serious injury?”. Because this is such a nebulous topic, we figured we’d get Cris (Clinical Director) and Ed (Performance Director) together on a sofa to discuss the various factors.

TwitQ: Hamstring injuries – What causes them? Can you prevent them?

This week’s question comes from an Athletics coach who e-mailed us asking about Hamstring Injuries – because it is a common problem amongst sprint athletes. His question was: “What are the key biomechanical factors related to hamstring injury?”

In this video (which we’re sorry is a bit shakier than usual for the first few mins!), we talk about the risk factors for Hamstring injuries and then look at the exercises that coaches use in an an effort to reduce the risk of injury.
