In order to fulfill our mission to be recognised as the UK's leading centre for sports performance and injury rehabilitation, we have assembled an extremely strong team of some of the brightest young sports science and sports therapy graduates available in the UK.
Our team is currently comprised of:
Ed Hallam, BSc (Hons) Sports Science
Co-Founder, Director of Performance
Ed Hallam co-founded Core Cambridge and, in his role as Director of Performance, is directly responsible for the quality of coaching that is delivered by the team. Ed has a long background of involvement in sport before setting up core cambridge, both participating and coaching, and is particularly well known for his coaching roles at cambridge rugby and cambridge university rugby clubs.
Ed's reason for founding core: "I desperately wanted to cut through the myths and hype about fitness, and to offer people genuine sports science delivered in a really practical format that they could instantly apply to get results".
Matt Tinsley, BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy MSST, CSCS
Graduate Strength & Conditioning Coach/ Sports Therapist
Matt joined our team in September 2007, straight after graduating with a BSc in Sports Therapy. Despite choosing a sports therapy course, Matt has always been passionate about the role of strength & conditioning in an athlete's development, and as such had already sat his CSCS exam before he started with us.
His unusual blend of skills in both rehabilitation and performance coaching mean that he is uniquely positioned to assist our injured clients. Matt has always played sports including rugby for England Schoolboys; His reason for joining core: "I was attracted by the extremely exciting interdisciplinary approach to injury rehabilitation. It's innovative, and is absolutely the way forwards to get lasting results for clients".
Hayley Ginn, BSc (Hons) Sports Science, UKA Level 3 (Advanced Coach)
Graduate Strength & Conditioning Coach
Hayley graduated in 2006 with a First Class degree in Sports Science and joined our team in September 2007.
In addition to the strength & conditioning coaching skill we would normally expect from our staff, Hayley is a UKA Level 3 Performance Coach, specialising in Sprints. Because of this she is able to help our clients with advice on running technique as well as developing training plans for the build up to running events such as 10K & marathon.
Hayley's reason for joining core: "...it is amazing to finally have a centre that applies the same principles and techniques for ordinary people as they do for performance athletes."
Dominic Thompson, BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy MSST
Graduate Sports Therapist
Dominic graduated in 2007 with a BSc in Sports Therapy and joined our team in January 2008.
He has sports therapy clinic experience during and after his degree, and his more clinical approach to injury rehabilitation is an excellent compliment to our functional approach. Since joining, Dominic has been working extensively on our corporate wellness services. His reason for joining core: "...there's no question that this blended approach to physical therapy is absolutely the way to break people out of the loop of repeated reinjury"
Nick Chadd, BSc (Hons) Sports Science
Graduate Strength & Conditioning Coach
Nick graduated in 2006 with a BSc in Sports Science and joined our team in January 2008, he is currently completing his MSc in sport science. Nick is passionate about applying scientific principles in order to gain optimal development within the strength and conditioning field. Since joining, Nick has been working on long-term athlete development and our youth academy, as well as periodisation templates for a variety of athletic performance criteria; His reason for joining core: "The opportunity to apply scientific knowledge in order to optimise performance through strength and conditioning is a rare opportunity and Core truly provides this"
Dan Coley, BEng (Hons), CSCS
Co-Founder, Director
Dan co-founded Core Cambridge, and is responsible for everything that makes the business tick. After many years of lamenting with Ed about the lack of decent training facilities and information in the UK, he cracked his knuckles over an empty excel spreadsheet and found a way to turn their combined ideas into a workable business. Prior to opening the centre, Dan passed his CSCS qualification; His reason for founding core: "To provide the facilities that athletes need, to enable the rediculous results that this gets for ordinary people and definitely to bust the stupid myths of training for females!"
